Buza launches vegan ice creams based on Innovopro’s chickpea protein
InnovoPro was one of the dozens of start-ups and established food companies that showcased their innovations at Israel’s first conference for plant-based culinary innovation. The conference – organized by Vegan Friendly and the Israeli branch of Meatless Monday – targeted professionals and suppliers from the food industry.
At the conference, the leading boutique ice cream chain Buza launched two vegan ice cream flavors made with InnovoPro’s chickpea protein. The vegan ice creams are indistinguishable from dairy-based desserts. The vegan ice creams join InnovoPro’s existing product partnerships: a chickpea-based milk substitute and a sports nutrition vegan powder.
“The ‘Start-Up Nation’ started with technology and has progressed into food and agriculture, which were previously more traditional and not seen as technological sectors,” InnovoPro founder and CEO Taly Nechushtan told The Jerusalem Post. “Today, we understand that the raw materials that we used in the past are not the raw materials that we want in the products of our children in the future. New raw materials need to be based on technology, and that’s why Israel – the Start-Up Nation – is a magnet of foodtech.”
The conference was held at the Tel Aviv Port on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020.
